Virtual Stay-cation Social Series
8th April 2020
Whether you call it a virtual staycation, or an online holistay, Townsville North Queensland will be inspiring the future wave of visitors with a new online content series, featuring virtual reality experiences, behind-the-scenes tours, and much more.
The initiative is designed to keep Townsville North Queensland top-of-mind during the Coronavirus pandemic in an aim to encourage future travel when operators reopen.
In partnership with key regional tourism operators, Virtual Staycation Social Series will include a suite of new digital content to inspire locals and showcase the best of Townsville North Queensland.
Townsville Enterprise Tourism & Events Director Lisa Woolfe said the new social media initiative was a logical decision during such challenging circumstances.
“We’re all encouraged to stay at home right now for the safety and wellbeing of our community, which means people everywhere are looking for entertaining and educational content to inspire the dreaming phase of their future travel journey,” Ms Woolfe said.
“Now more than ever is the time to remind locals of what a stunningly beautiful place we call home, and what better way to showcase the best our region has to offer than through engaging video content.”
“If nothing else, our resilient tourism industry is being incredibly innovative and are using social media to continue to share their message and their world-class experiences with audiences in homes right across our region and beyond.”
“We hope that by sharing this unique staycation content with our engaged audience, that we can not only invoke a sense of mindfulness with videos of our relaxing pristine scenery, but also offer exclusive behind-the-scenes access to enliven and educate the most active of minds.”
