Designed by renowned architects Tunbridge & Tunbridge. The Metropole has stood the test of time, not just in structure, but in spirit. 


'The first and last' – that's what sailors called them. First pub they'd hit stepping off the boats. Last one before setting sail.

Miners. Railway workers. Mariners. They've served them all. Through boom times and rough seas, they've been a familiar face on a changing waterfront.

Every licensee left their mark. Every decade added character. 


Now, freshly renovated they're ready for our next chapter. To be loved by locals and visitors again.
