Australia XI versus England 4-day Cricket match

November will bring international cricket to Riverway Stadium, when Cricket Australia Xl hosts the English Men’s Team in a four-day pre-Ashes series from Wednesday 15 to Saturday 18 November 2017. This red ball (day match) four-day series will run in the immediate lead up to the opening Ashes Test Match at the Gabba, which is set to take place from 23 to 27 November 2017. Tickets are on sale now and offer affordable family entertainment. You can also purchase a four-day pass and there are plenty of corporate hospitality packages on offer too! Tickets are also available at the venue on day, from Gate 2. All tickets are sold as general admission and include access to the grandstand. There is no way to reserve a seat in the grandstand. Be sun smart - make sure you bring a hat, sunscreen and water bottle!

Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships

The Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships is a test of skill and endurance, with thousands of dollars in prize money up for grabs for competitors. Bring the family to experience history coming back to life, in the sugar capital of Australia- the Burdekin region. Spectators will have the opportunity to walk through a paddock of burnt sugarcane - an unusual and memorable experience for many city dwellers. The dirty, back-breaking work of a by-gone era, the expertise of the 'old-timers', and the excitement of the 'Cut, Top and Load' will be on show again at this iconic Australian event. Sit back and enjoy live entertainment, wander through vintage machinery from yesteryear, take part in a workshop or two, enjoy a bite to eat from one of their many food providers or have a cold drink from the bar. There is something to do for the whole family with free children’s craft and activities, an animal farm, jumping castle and mini train rides. The Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships are held at the Home Hill Showgrounds, about one and a quarter hour's drive south of Townsville, and 15 minutes from Ayr.

MagnetiCon - Townsville Pop Culture Event

Townsville's first Pop Culture Event was a roaring success, so they are set to bring everything pop culture to Townsville. There will have movie stars, cosplayers from Australia as well as cartoonist that have done work from the Simpsons to My Little Pony. Join in the cosplay competition , see Doctor Who's Tardis a Dalek and you might even see someone dressed up as the eleventh Doctor. They will have memorabilia from the Infamous Geek(Platinum Sponsor) on site as well. Dioramas from Hemble Creations from Star Trek, Star Wars, Indianna Jones and much much more. There will have vendors travelling from all over Queensland selling everything pop culture so they can't wait to see you in Tropical North Queensland during their beautiful winter 17 to 26 degrees.

Eco Fiesta is a free event that assists the community in becoming more environmentally conscious. There will be a wide range of exhibitors and live entertainment. Women's Masters State Championships

Townsville will see an influx of visitors during the four-day affair, with hundreds of athletes and their supporters set to converge on the town from around the state. Masters hockey is one of the fastest growing forms of hockey in Australia and is one of Hockey Queensland's biggest tournaments. Players aged 35 and over compete in teams from their local area, with Queensland state teams selected at the end of the Championships in age groups 35+ to 65+.

Pet Expo

This free community event educates the public on the importance of responsible pet ownership in Townsville. With competitions and giveaways, the event offers something for owners of pets, great and small. Visitors to the expo can take part in a range of fun activities and speak to pet-related exhibitors. Pet Expo is a free event for the public and stallholders’ sites are free of charge. Stallholders are required to provide a donation in the form of a product or gift voucher, which will be given back to pet owners on the day as prizes for competitions.

These trails are usually only accessible for selected mountain bike riders, so don't miss the chance to take in the great views and run these fun and challenging trails. Magnetic Island Triathlon

North Queensland's own tropical destination adventure island brings you a great weekend of thrills and spills, an exotic racing adventure begins on the Friday evening, all the way through to Sunday afternoon. They have a Barge to Beach mystery swim on the Saturday to whet your appetite for some scrumptious cuisine on Saturday evening. Sunday you get to swim over part of the Great Barrier Reefs pristine waters as you start your triathlon, for a magnificent sprint course, all around Picnic Bay. Then relax after the race in the iconic bay with a celebratory beer and cocktail.

Skate Titans / Operation X Townsville

Operation X is an annual skateboarding contest which began seven years ago when the president of The Youth Network NQ, Rachel Cook, saw a need for kids in the community to be engaged around Skateparks. The contest has grown every year, and Rachel has partnered with Donny Fraser from ASCI over the years to work as a collaborative team to grow and improve this contest every year since its inception. The Skate Titans is a series of contests around Australia which allow local winners from different regions to compete at a high level at major contests around Australia.The collaboration of Operation X, a historical event in Townsville joining with the Skate Titans ensures Locals from the region are able to get exposure and advance their opportunities.
