With rugged coastlines and surrounding reefs bursting with life, you'll find yourself spoilt for choice when picking an island off the coast of Townsville North Queensland. There are the more well-known islands of Magnetic, Hinchinbrook and Orpheus Islands all waiting to be explored as well as a cluster of lesser known islands in the Palm Group of Islands.

The Palm Group of Islands include Fantome (Eumilli), Curacoa (Noogoo), Barber (Boodthean), Esk (Soopun), Falcon (Carbooroo), Eclipse (Garoogubbee), Brisk (Culgarool), Fly, Havannah and Great Palm or ‘Palm Island’.

Palm Island is an Aboriginal community, located North East of Townsville, also called by the Aboriginal name "Bwgcolman". The island has an active art community and works can be seen on display at the Palm Island Artists Centre year round.

Fishing, horse riding and bush walks are popular past times as well as snorkelling the abundant coral reefs that surround the island.
